Welcome to The Old Testament & Disney - The Lion King Trilogy!
My name is Amanda Watt, and I am a fourth year student at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. I am currently taking a religious studies course, at MUN, called Religion 3880: Religion & Disney with Dr. Jennifer Porter.
For our final assignment we were given the option to write a research paper or do a website project, can you guess which one I chose? Obviously, I jumped on the chance to create and work on something outside of the box; I am finishing up my degree and this has been a very fun class that has pushed me to be creative in ways I had not had the chance to work with in university.
I chose to focus on the aspects of the Old Testament in Disney's The Lion King Trilogy. I have always been intrigued by the Old Testament, whether you consider yourself religious or not, I think everyone should acknowledge the importance of its existence and its enormous influence on mankind over the ages. I decided to further my intrigue in the fall of 2013 and took Religion 2050: The Old Testament with Kim Parker, I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Now that I have studied the Old Testament, however, I find I notice it in pop culture all the time; thus, I welcome you to explore my site and my thoughts!
